Audience: 7-12 Teachers, K-6 Teachers (requiring awareness-level training)

This is an approved training that meets the Awareness-Level requirement.

Act 1063 of 2017, the Right to Read Act states: “By the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year: A) All teachers employed in a teaching position that requires an elementary education (K-6) license or special education (K-12) license shall demonstrate proficiency in knowledge and practices of scientific reading instruction; and B) All other teachers shall demonstrate awareness in knowledge and practices of scientific reading instruction.

BRAINSread. Awareness Training consists of 3 days of professional development that includes current research in the Science of Reading. Topics include theoretical models of reading, how the brain learns to read, dyslexia, elements required for proficient reading, and multi-sensory instruction and interventions.

BRAINSread. Awareness Training is available at various locations. Trainings can be offered within specific school districts and can be scheduled based on the needs of your district or school.
